Dr. Maria Mouyis MBBCH FRCP
Dr. Maria Mouyis is both a Consultant Rheumatologist and Obstetric Physician. She is determined to deliver high quality health care to all patients but especially those women planning for pregnancy with rheumatic or other complex conditions.
Dr. Mouyis obtained her undergraduate Degree in Medicine at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. She then went on to practice rural medicine before moving to the UK. Once in the UK, she specialised in General Medicine and Rheumatology via the London Deanery working in hospitals including University College London as well as several centres affiliated to Imperial College. She obtained her consultant qualification in Rheumatology and General Medicine in 2016.
She subsequently worked as a consultant at Northwick Park Hospital until 2018. She then completed a Fellowship in Obstetric Medicine at Guys & St Thomas Hospital. In 2020, she took a post at the Bedfordshire NHS trust with the main objective to further develop regional services in the areas of pregnancy-associated rheumatic diseases and maternal medicine.
Dr. Mouyis has published several specialised articles, papers, and book chapters (details can be found here). Among her latest contributions, she wrote a book chapter on obstetric rheumatology as part of the Oxford University Press Rheumatology Textbook. Beyond her publications, Dr. Mouyis is actively involved in preparing and delivering teaching for GP’s and medical students, as well as, training doctors for clinical examinations.
